This Video May Make You Cry

I know for the past month you’ve been hearing all about this weird “tapping” thing and the Tapping World Summit.

If you’re not sure about this tapping thing I think you should watch this video about how EFT is being used to help a group of people who have gone through some seriously traumatic events..

http://thetappingsolution.com/cmd.php?Clk=4740414

All I can say is…Wow!  Absolutely amazing…

There’s an opportunity to help yourself and help the people shown in the video if you choose to.

You see, if you choose to purchase the MP3’s or CD’s of the 2012 Tapping World
Summit today 100% of your purchase price will go to help the people shown in
the video.

That’s right…100%.  The folks over at the Tapping Solution will pay for all of
the product costs and actually lose money just to make this happen.

I think it shows what they’re all about, which is spreading EFT and helping people to heal, grow and improve their life in every way possible.

Check out the video and pick up the summit today.  You’ll be glad you did.
And so will the hundreds of children shown in the video…

Stop Judging Yourself

Recently I was beating myself up for responding to stress in a way that used to serve me. I thought I had released that stress response from my system. I did some EFT with one of my tapping buddies. Out of that tapping I became aware of sadness at responding in the old way. I also realised that I was judging myself for responding in this way. I also realised that judging myself was a familiar pattern too.

We tapped together to release the sadness and self judgement. The old response used to serve me well and stop me getting too stressed by forcing me to stop (I’d get a stomach bug or bad cold). I no longer have that old level of stress in my life, yet at times I still respond like I used to. I was effectively beating myself up for still responding in the old way. Out of our session together I was able to release my sadness, self judgement and develop a sense of inner peace.

I became aware of the need to listen to my body more carefully and more often. That way I can become aware of any emotions or stress building up and listen without judgement.

We often judge ourselves instead of accepting and allowing our emotions to flow. So if you judge yourself at times for feeling certain emotions or reacting in certain ways then tapping can definitely benefit you. Try some of the following statements to help you stop judging yourself:

  • Even though I’m judging myself for feeling {emotion} I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway
  • Even though I’m judging myself because I reacted in that old way, I’m open to being kind to myself and letting go of this judgement
  • Even though I always judge myself instead of accepting these feelings, I’m open to the possibility of accepting all of me

Tap through all of the related emotions until you feel a sense of peace and self acceptance. We are often very self-critical and self judging. So make this tapping a priority if this is an issue for you.

I wish you self acceptance and peace.

Taking On Too Much

  • How often do you take on too much?
  • Do you feel like you can’t say no?
  • Do you want to please everybody?
  • Do you feel you are letting people down if you say no?

We can’t be superman or superwoman! We need to have boundaries. We need to look after ourselves. If we do too much and then get ill then we can’t help anyone.

So make looking after yourself a priority. Learn to say no. Enlist the help of others.

If any of that triggers something in you then it’s time to tap! Start by trying statements like:

  • Even though I always take on too much, I’m open to the possibility of changing my ways
  • Even though I feel like I can’t say no, I’m open to learning how to set boundaries
  • Even though I want to help everybody and make them feel good, I do need to look after me
  • Even though I’m a people pleaser, I’m open to looking after myself too

Remember to keep tapping until you have fully finished with each aspect.

Learn to look after yourself. You could:

  • Relax in the bath with some essential oils
  • Take a walk in nature
  • Read a book
  • Watch your favourite movie
  • Get a massage
  • Meditate

All of these things help us to look after ourselves and ultimately others too. Use EFT any time your boundaries get overrun and you are putting everyone else before yourself!

Connecting With Nature

So I was feeling kind of wobbly and a bit out of sorts. My usual “tool” would be to start tapping. Today felt different. I felt like I needed to get out and get some fresh air. It was cold and starting to sleet. I wrapped myself up in coat, hood and gloves and started walking. I walked in my local park and connected with the river. I stood and just watched it. I felt the constancy of the water flowing. I felt the wonderful energy of the water, trees and plants.

Daffodils, snowdrops and crocuses were starting to appear. I felt a wonderful sense of aliveness and new life. I breathed in deeply and appreciated everything around me. Everything else just seemed to disappear. My problems faded into the background.

Today I was helped by mother nature and I felt very grateful for this experience.

Flowing River
Flowing River

I know that EFT is always there for me. Sometimes a walk in the park can help too. Sometimes combining the two is even more powerful – tapping in nature, surrounded by all that wonderful energy 🙂

Do you have somewhere special where you go to connect with nature and indeed yourself? I’d love to hear your experiences too.

Dealing with Shock

“Shock: a sudden or violent disturbance of the mind, emotions, or sensibilities”

When life throws us difficult circumstances to deal with we often feel shock. It could be hearing bad news such as a loved one receiving a diagnosis of illness or passing away. It could an accident or traumatic event of some kind (e.g. fire or flood). The shock could be from a relationship ending or losing a job. It could also be something that someone said or the way someone behaved that shocked us.

Shock can make us feel weak, faint and raise our pulse. We may become absorbed in what happened and unable to think about anything else. We may feel numb, anxious or keep replaying the event over in our mind.

So what to do? At the first opportunity you have, get tapping! You don’t need to do the setup statement when you are right there in the feelings. Just start tapping focusing on what you are feeling.

Tapping really helps us release our emotions and deal with them, soothing our energy system which will also be feeling the shock.

Tap as often as you can, especially when you are recalling the shocking event or thinking about the consequences.  Keep tapping until the shock has dissipated or subsided. Tap on all the aspects of what has happened, e.g. hearing the news, thinking about the consequences, all of the emotions involved, the after effects and any previous shocks etc.

If the shock is very bad then it is probably best to seek the help of a practitioner who will be able to guide you through the process of dealing with all the associated feelings. Always seek the advice of a medical practitioner if your symptoms are severe.

EFT is a great tool to learn to help us in times of need. Adding it to your life skills is one way you can help yourself to stay on an even keel, even after a shock.

Happy New Year 2012

Wishing you a wonderful year ahead. I hope that 2012 brings you lots of fun, success, joy & peace.

Have you set yourself New Year Resolutions? Do you do this every year and then give up on them before January is out? How about setting yourself goals instead?

Set big goals if you always achieve your goals easily. Set smaller goals if you struggle with your goals. Start with baby steps if you find your goals very challenging. Chunk them down into smaller goals so that you build on your success.

Write a list of all the things that usually stop you achieving your goals and tap on them. Keep tapping as the challenges appear. Look for patterns and tap on these especially.

Blessings for the year ahead.

Keep tapping!

Let the tears flow

Sometimes we face challenges that really push our buttons. We feel like we can’t take any more. I’ve had a week like that. My exhaust breaking was the final straw. I was so upset I burst into tears. Normally something like that would have just upset me a bit, but due to other challenges that are going on right now it pushed me over the edge.

We often hold on to our tears because it isn’t appropriate to cry at work or in public. Or we don’t want to appear weak, emotional or too sensitive etc.

EFT can help us let our emotions and tears flow. Try tapping along to the following:

  • Even though I can’t let myself cry because….{fill in the rest}
  • Even though I’ll seem weak if I cry….
  • Even though I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop crying if I start…..
  • Even though they’ll think I’m so emotional if I cry….
  • Even though they think I’m too sensitive because I cry all the time…
  • Even though I’ll appear to be an emotional wreck if I cry again….
  • Even though men don’t cry….

I certainly felt much better after a good cry and some tapping. It is great to be able to let our emotions out and much healthier than trying to suppress or ignore them. EFT can help us allow our emotions to flow and not to become overwhelmed by them. It can help us accept and acknowledge our feelings and not judge them.

Keep tapping and letting your emotions flow

It’s Too Painful

Have you ever felt too overwhelmed by your emotions? You feel like you can’t even admit to yourself that you have feelings about this situation because if you did they would all come flooding out and you just wouldn’t be able to cope.

When we feel this way we often stuff our emotions down because they feel too painful or overwhelming to deal with. But that can often lead to those feelings leaching out in other ways. Our shoulders become really tight and knotty, we have an ache in our stomach or we get bad headaches or migraines. This is our body’s way of telling us we need to deal with our feelings.

It can feel too scary to begin to address these feelings because we don’t want to feel out of control or overwhelmed by them. So firstly, please be very gentle with yourself.

You might find the following tapping helpful:

  • Even though it feels too painful to begin to deal with {this situation/these emotions}, I’m willing to be very gentle with myself
  • Even though I feel too overwhelmed by these emotions to begin dealing with them, I’m open to feeling safe and in control
  • Even though I can’t even admit to myself that I have these feelings, I’m willing to be kind and gentle with myself

Tap a few rounds of these type of statements until you feel calmer and more in control.  Then try:

  • Even though I know I’ve been suppressing all these emotions, I choose to be able to let them out slowly in a way I can handle
  • Even though my body has been holding these emotions for me, I choose to be able to calmly let them be heard now
  • Even though these emotions have felt too painful and I’ve been scared of being overwhelmed by them, I choose to allow them out in a safe way now

Once you feel calmer about being able to deal with the situation/emotions then you can start tapping on them. You don’t have to dive right in and start tapping on them straightaway. You can even start by using very generic tapping statements like:

  • Even though I have all these emotions, I accept myself and my feelings
  • Even though these emotions have been difficult to face, I’m ready to deal with them now

Keep tapping using these generic statements until you feel you are ready to be more specific and get into the emotions themselves. Remember you are in control and can stop anytime if they start to feel too painful or overwhelming. You can of course tap on the feelings being too overwhelming and painful again.

EFT can be very gentle if used in this way. EFT is not designed to help us tough it out and push us on when we don’t feel ready. It is there to help us feel we can deal with our emotions safely and at a rate we can handle.

Remember to keep breathing and drink plenty of water.

Keep tapping and be gentle with yourself.

Holistic Health And Energy Therapy: Complementary Cancer Care

Holistic Health And Energy Therapy: Complementary Cancer Care

Holistic health is a form of self-care. Defined as complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), holistic health focuses on how the various body elements — physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional — work together to promote and maintain wellness.

Holistic Cancer Care

Some health care professionals believe the holistic approach can help cancer patients manage their pain, as well as the side effects of cancer treatment. They believe holistic health is good complementary practice when combined with traditional medicine.

Anyone battling cancer, from common basal cell carcinoma to rare mesothelioma, can benefit from holistic cancer care. Holistic care promotes a healthy lifestyle, nutritious diet, exercise, and stress management. The holistic approach considers the individual physical, spiritual, and psychological factors involved with each cancer patient.

No scientific evidence exists to support the claim that holistic health can cure cancer, or even treat the disease on its own. But according to the National Cancer Institute, research is underway to determine the effectiveness of cancer-related CAM therapies.

For the best possible outcome, holistic medicine also integrates complementary practices with traditional medicine. Two complementary therapies that are increasingly being used in cancer care are Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Healing Touch.

Emotional Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique is a therapeutic tool that is similar to the ancient practice of acupuncture, without the needles. Health care professionals may recommend EFT to optimize a cancer patient’s emotional health. Emotional health is often overlooked during cancer treatment, but it is essential for physical healing.

EFT therapy is based on the same energy meridians used in acupuncture. Simple fingertip tapping is used to help encourage energy flow on certain meridians, while the patient thinks about a specific problem (such as pain) and repeats affirmations.

EFT therapy has many benefits for cancer patients. It helps them cope with the fears and worries of cancer, while managing nausea, fatigue, and other side effects of aggressive cancer treatment. Whether patients are facing curable skin cancer or mesothelioma life expectancy, EFT can help them cope with their illness, accept death, and reach inner calm and peace.

Healing Touch

Healing Touch International, defines Healing Touch as a “relaxing, nurturing energy therapy.” Practitioners employ gentle touch to help restore balance to a patient’s physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.

Healing Touch benefits cancer patients by reducing stress, anxiety, and depression; relieving pain; strengthening the body’s immune system; deepening the spiritual connection; and providing a sense of wellbeing. Healing Touch works wonderfully as a complementary therapy, supporting traditional medical treatment and other holistic practices.

Melanie Bowen is an advocate for natural health and cancer cure initiatives. After graduating with a bachelors degree in English with a specialty in Psychology and Medical Research, you will often find her highlighting the great benefits of different nutritional, emotional, and physical treatments on those with illnesses in her efforts to spread awareness.

Take 5

With life rushing by us at such a hectic pace, it is hard to take time out. But we can all manage to find 5 minutes for ourselves in a day. What to do with that 5 minutes?

  • You can sit quietly and just breathe – watch your breath going in and out
  • You can tap several rounds on an issue that bothering you
  • You can just tap – don’t tune in to anything in particular and don’t say anything – just tap
  • You can tap in some positive affirmations
  • You can tap in some gratitude – speak out loud all the things you are grateful for

You see, you don’t need an hour. Most people would struggle to find that amount of time for themselves every day. Even the busiest of people can find 5 minutes a day.

Take 5
Take 5

I hope this encourages you to take some much-needed time for yourself. We all face so many pressures, demands and stress. It is so important to do something to combat that every day. Doing something that takes just 5 minutes is one way of ensuring we do something beneficial.

What suggestions do you have for doing something for yourself in just 5 minutes a day?

Keeping It Fruity

We all know that eating at least 5 a day helps us stay healthy. But what if we just don’t enjoy fruit or vegetables that much? What if we don’t naturally look for fruit when we are hungry & seek instead something sweet & chocolatey?

Fruit
Keeping it fruity

Well there is hope! EFT can be very useful when it comes to helping us choose healthy foods. Generally chocolate and cakes etc give people some sort of comfort. You might like to look at what drives you to eat this kind of comfort food. You can use tapping to help you identify the triggers to this kind of eating.

In the meantime, here’s a tapping script that can help you choose to eat more fruit and vegetables.

Tap on the Karate Chop whilst repeating three times:

  • Even though I don’t naturally reach for fruit,  I’m open to accepting myself anyway
  • Even though I’d rather eat a chocolate bar than an apple, I’m ok
  • Even though I’m finding it hard to eat fruit and vegetables, I accept my feelings about this

Eyebrow: I just don’t think about eating fruit
Side of Eye: I’d rather eat a chocolate bar {or your comfort food}
Under Eye: I find it so hard to eat fruit and vegetables
Under Nose: It’s so easy to reach for a cake instead
Chin: I just don’t fancy eating fruit
Collarbone: Why is it so hard for me to eat healthily
Under Arm: It’s so hard to eat enough fruit and veg
Top of Head: I don’t naturally look for fruit to satisfy my hunger

Eyebrow: I’m open to letting it be easier
Side of Eye: Maybe I can enjoy fruit more
Under Eye: Maybe if I plan things better, I’ll enjoy eating fruit more
Under Nose: What if I started enjoying fruit more
Chin: I know I’d feel healthier if I ate more fruit
Collarbone: Maybe I can choose different fruit
Under Arm: What if I felt satisfied after eating some fruit
Top of Head: I wonder if I can enjoy fruit more

Repeat using your words where appropriate. Ask yourself some questions like:

What does chocolate {or insert your comfort food} do for me?

Why do I need to feel comforted by food?

What am I trying to comfort with food?

Remember to tap on any emotions that come up until you feel they have been fully addressed.  You can use the choices method to help you choose to eat more fruit and veg. E.g. Even though I still naturally choose other food, I choose to reach for fruit more often.

Keep tapping!

EFT, Alternative Medicine Therapies and Cancer

Alternative Medicine Therapies and Cancer: Emotional Freedom Technique

According to recent estimates by the World Health Organization, cancer in its various forms is the cause of 13.3% of deaths worldwide, 19.3% of deaths in the United States alone (1). Over 1.5 million new cases are diagnosed every year in the United States. Particularly prevalent in the United States is mesothelioma, a form of cancer that affects the protective lining of internal organs, predominantly the lining of the lungs, heart, abdominal cavity, and testes. Excessive use of asbestos in architecture during the 1970s and 80s has been linked to the high incidence of mesothelioma in the United States, with death rates increasing significantly each year (2). Despite various pharmacological, chemotherapeutic, and surgical therapies for cancerous growth, including mesothelioma, the prognosis of the disease is very poor.

In light of the low success rate for current medical treatments of cancer, much research in alternative medicine therapies has begun in recent years. The motivation for study in these alternative therapies is to find an effective combination of clinical and psychological treatments of cancer. Such combinations of alternative medicine with current medical treatments may lead to a better mesothelioma prognosis. One particularly promising alternative medicine therapy is the Emotional Freedom Technique, abbreviated EFT. Developed by Gary Craig two decades ago, EFT is a psychotherapeutic method of relieving the psychological and emotional consequences of disease, such as fear and anxiety. In essence, EFT is a non-invasive manner of triggering and desensitizing acupressure points located all over the body, causing a holistic betterment of the psyche and emotional condition. Proponents of EFT emphasize the benefits of its “energy psychology” approach in aiding cancer recovery.

EFT, in conjunction with other drug or surgical therapies, can improve cancer prognosis by complementing biological treatment with psychological improvements. Cancer is an emotionally taxing ailment, and current chemotherapy and surgical procedures only exacerbate this emotional drain. Thus, it is plausible to claim that alternative medicine therapies like EFT can prove to be extremely effective in the future as a complementary cancer treatment option. The outlook for such combination therapies is promising in providing an all-encompassing treatment for one of the most malignant diseases on the planet.

Getting Back To The Old Routine

For the first time in two months I feel like my old self again. I have moved into a temporary home whilst mine is refurbished post fire. I am finally back into my old routine and it feels so good! It feels like I have returned back to reality. Whilst things are not progressing as fast as I would like with my house, I am at least back to functioning on a day-to-day basis like I was before. I am so grateful to have had EFT in my life to help me through this difficult period.

This got me thinking about routines in general and how they affect us when they are changed (whether by choice or otherwise). Many teachers struggle at this time of year, having had 6 weeks off it can be difficult getting back into the new term routine.

Routine/schedule
Routine

Here is a tapping script that can help you if you are struggling to get back into your old routine or even start a new one!

Tap on the Karate Chop whilst repeating three times:

  • Even though I’m struggling to get into my routine,  I’m open to accepting myself anyway
  • Even though I can’t seem to get into the flow of things, I’m ok
  • Even though I’m finding it hard to get going again, I accept my feelings about this

Eyebrow: I’m struggling to get into this routine
Side of Eye: I can’t seem to get going again
Under Eye: I’m feeling stressed about my routine
Under Nose: Why does it seem so hard?
Chin: I feel anxious because my routine doesn’t feel right
Collarbone: Why is it so hard to get back into it?
Under Arm: I can’t seem to slip back into my routine
Top of Head: This routine feels so difficult

Eyebrow: I’m open to allowing it to happen at its own pace
Side of Eye: Maybe it will get easier
Under Eye: Maybe I’m thinking about it too much
Under Nose: What if I took the pressure off myself a bit
Chin: I know this is a good routine for me
Collarbone: Maybe it will feel more natural soon
Under Arm: What if I just relaxed more
Top of Head: I wonder if I can enjoy this transition period

Remember to use your words where they are more appropriate and keep tapping to clear out any negative feelings you have before you try the positive reframes.

At different times our energy levels change and sometimes activities flow easily and at other times they seem like a struggle. Acknowledge things around you that could be influencing you, e.g. your energy levels, other people’s moods, the weather etc.

Keep tapping until you feel like you are in the swing of things!
