Developing A Good Tapping Habit

We all have some habits that we wish we didn’t, e.g. biting our nails or smoking. EFT is an excellent tool to use to help you get rid of unwanted habits. What I’d like to share with you today are some ways to get into a good habit – regular tapping. This is another question I get asked a lot by clients – how can they remember to use it on a regular basis.

Good habit
How to develop a good tapping habit?

Many people recognise that EFT is a fantastic self help tool, but they get so busy and caught up with everyday life that they forget to do it. It only works when you use it and sometimes you have to use it quite a lot. One of the key things with EFT is persistence and chasing the pain back to the root cause (not just tapping on your symptoms). So how can we remind ourselves to tap on a regular basis?

Here are some ways that you can develop a good tapping habit:

  • Schedule it (yes literally put it in your diary/calendar)
  • Tap in the morning as part of your ablutions (e.g. before you shower or after brushing your teeth)
  • Tap every time you use the bathroom
  • Tap before your lunch
  • Tap before you pick up the phone
  • Use EFT before any meetings
  • Tap whilst stuck in traffic (perfect for road rage!)
  • Before bed, tap on anything that didn’t go so well/anything that upset you
Schedule EFT

I hope that these help you make EFT a good habit. If you have any other suggestions, I’d love to hear from you. 🙂

I always recommend working with an experienced EFT practitioner if you have a long standing or complex issue. We can do a lot of very valuable work by ourselves but it is always better to work with a practitioner who will guide and support you when you need it.

Happy New Year 2016

Happy New Year 2016.jpg

Wishing you a Happy New Year 2016.

Instead of having New Year Resolutions, which normally get dropped by the second week of January, I like to set myself goals for the year.

You can start out by asking yourself some questions about how your 2015 was, e.g.

  • What were my gifts?
  • What were my successes?
  • What were my challenges?
  • What was my biggest lesson?

Then think about what you want to achieve in 2016. If you have a big goal, e.g. studying for a qualification, then it can really help to break it down into smaller goals. So you might have a goal each term, or for each major piece of coursework.

Then write out your goals for 2016. You can get really creative and use a vision board and fill it with your goals and inspiration to help you along the way. Stand in front of your board every day and visualise how good it will feel to achieve your goals. You can use EFT on any issues you have along the way, e.g. fear of doing a speech, anxiety about a test, feeling overwhelmed etc.

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.”

Gail Devers

Wishing you lots of happiness and success in 2016.

Tapping World Summit 2014 – Register Now!

Tapping World Summit 2014
3 good reasons why you DO NOT want to miss this…

I want to make sure you know about something really special that is taking place on February 24th.  And I want to make sure to share some details about it that you might not know…

Before I get to that though, make sure to write down the date and time so you don’t forget:

February 24th at 8PM ET

You see, at this specific date and time, there is a free online event taking place that will dramatically change your life.  During this event you’ll be guided through the application of a technique that delivers such tremendous results, and so quickly, that it falls into the “I can’t believe this works so well” category.

The technique is EFT, or Tapping, and if you’ve been paying attention to all the buzz lately around
the 2014 Tapping World Summit — the 6th annual event —  you’re probably curious to learn more about it…

I highly recommend checking out the page below to learn all about it, and about why you need to attend this massive free online event (over 500,000 people attended last year alone!).  The event starts on February 24th but there are a full 10 days of life-altering presentations…

Here are 3 good reasons why you DO NOT want to miss this online event:

1 – This event is an experience, not just an event with information.  Attendees don’t just leave with ideas or theories on how to make their life better, they leave actually feeling better.

They leave with less stress, anxiety, overwhelm, anger, sadness, and other negative emotions.  They leave having cleared limiting beliefs around money, health, relationships and more.  They leave having cleared childhood traumas.  They leave the event better than when they went in.  You, yes YOU,…will leave this event better than when you enter it.

This event has been going on for 6 years.  It has a reputation for getting results for attendees, year after year after year.  🙂

2 – This event is 100% content, no products are pitched.  Don’t expect any sales pitches during these presentations, because you won’t get any.  Every one of the 23 presentations, that you can listen to in their entirety, are 100% content only.

3 – This event is free.  If you’re given the opportunity to attend an event that is 100% content, that has a proven track record of getting people results during the 10-days of the event, that uses a technique that has been scientifically proven to get results and is supported by the world’s leading personal development experts, medical doctors, and psychologists, and it’s all free…why wouldn’t you give it a chance?

There is literally nothing to lose.  Sign up for it and if you don’t like the event (which I highly doubt will happen), just unsubscribe from the event and you won’t hear about it again.  But why not give it a chance?  It seems like there are only positives and no negatives that could come out of the opportunity…

Go here to learn more and sign up:

Trust me on this one…this technique and this event is truly amazing.

P.S. – If you want to see what some of the experts that I mentioned above have to say about this event, about EFT Tapping, and about Nick Ortner, the host of the event you can see that on this page:

You’ll get to hear from experts like Dr. Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, Kris Carr, Dr. Joseph Mercola, Jack Canfield, Jennifer McLean, Cheryl Richardson, Arielle Ford, Joe Vitale and many others…

How to Attend the Tapping World Summit

Just a quick post to let you know that registration for the 2012 Tapping World Summit is officially open.

This event has been all the buzz lately and it’s with good reason…

This event is 100% content, all designed to help you get results…and the entire 10 days of the event are free.

In the event you’ll learn exactly how to use Tapping for a variety of different issues.

This is the 4th year that this event has run.  Last year there were over 300,000 people who registered.

There’s a reason why the event keeps growing from year to year…it’s because Tapping works!

And since this event only happens once per year…you want to make sure to check it out right away so you can learn how to use Tapping in your life.

After all, if you could learn a technique that could drastically improve your life and you
could learn how to do it for free…wouldn’t you want to?

The summit is great if you are just starting to learn about tapping or if you’ve been tapping for a long time. There really is something for everyone.

The Right Fit

I had a great discussion with a client recently about the different therapies that they had tried. What is important to note is that not every therapy will work for you. Not even EFT which works on most people!

So how do you know what is right for you?

The Right Fit

First of all, do some research and find out what the therapy involves. If it sounds interesting and something that might help you then take the next step. Search for a local practitioner if it is a therapy that requires that or find one you are drawn to. Talk to the therapist and see if they feel a right fit for you. This is very important. The fit has to be right with both the therapy and the practitioner. It could be the best therapy for you but if you don’t like the therapist, it probably isn’t going to happen. If you are dreading going to see your therapist then you are probably not going to get a lot out of your session together!

There has been a lot written about the therapeutic relationship. Fundamentally we want to be listened to and understood. We want to feel like our therapist “gets us”. We don’t want to feel like they are judging us or criticising us. I would say that we want them to challenge us certainly, but in a caring way. You should feel supported and like you are working together as a team.

You can always set up an initial appointment and see what happens in the session together. If the fit feels good then you can arrange more sessions and if it doesn’t you can try someone else.

Remember that just because a therapist is right for your friend/partner or family member they may not be right for you.

So take some time to find a therapy that you are interested in trying and then find a therapist that feels like a good fit.  When the therapist/client relationship is the right fit, wonderful things can happen.

Happy New Year 2012

Wishing you a wonderful year ahead. I hope that 2012 brings you lots of fun, success, joy & peace.

Have you set yourself New Year Resolutions? Do you do this every year and then give up on them before January is out? How about setting yourself goals instead?

Set big goals if you always achieve your goals easily. Set smaller goals if you struggle with your goals. Start with baby steps if you find your goals very challenging. Chunk them down into smaller goals so that you build on your success.

Write a list of all the things that usually stop you achieving your goals and tap on them. Keep tapping as the challenges appear. Look for patterns and tap on these especially.

Blessings for the year ahead.

Benefits of Mentoring

For any therapist, one of the most important things we must do is self-development. We need to keep up to date with the latest techniques, develop our skills and connect with other like-minded people. Most professional bodies these days have a requirement for a certain amount of Continuous Professional Development points each year.

One of the ways I achieve my self development is via EFT mentoring days run by the lovely Jacqui Footman. These days are  fun and I always end up learning a great deal. It is a wonderful experience meeting like-minded people and sharing information and ideas. We have some wonderful discussions and do some great shared tapping. We discuss success stories or interesting cases. Sometimes we have a guest speaker who brings a wealth of knowledge on their specialist subject.

We also have the pleasure of sharing a wonderful lunch with informal chats and a chance to get to know everyone. These days really help my practice and I really look forward to the next one in January, where we will be learning all about EFT research techniques. This will give us the opportunity to take part in research ourselves and help even more people learn the benefits of this amazing technique.

Getting Back To The Old Routine

For the first time in two months I feel like my old self again. I have moved into a temporary home whilst mine is refurbished post fire. I am finally back into my old routine and it feels so good! It feels like I have returned back to reality. Whilst things are not progressing as fast as I would like with my house, I am at least back to functioning on a day-to-day basis like I was before. I am so grateful to have had EFT in my life to help me through this difficult period.

This got me thinking about routines in general and how they affect us when they are changed (whether by choice or otherwise). Many teachers struggle at this time of year, having had 6 weeks off it can be difficult getting back into the new term routine.

Here is a tapping script that can help you if you are struggling to get back into your old routine or even start a new one!

Tap on the Karate Chop whilst repeating three times:

  • Even though I’m struggling to get into my routine,  I’m open to accepting myself anyway
  • Even though I can’t seem to get into the flow of things, I’m ok
  • Even though I’m finding it hard to get going again, I accept my feelings about this

Eyebrow: I’m struggling to get into this routine
Side of Eye: I can’t seem to get going again
Under Eye: I’m feeling stressed about my routine
Under Nose: Why does it seem so hard?
Chin: I feel anxious because my routine doesn’t feel right
Collarbone: Why is it so hard to get back into it?
Under Arm: I can’t seem to slip back into my routine
Top of Head: This routine feels so difficult

Eyebrow: I’m open to allowing it to happen at its own pace
Side of Eye: Maybe it will get easier
Under Eye: Maybe I’m thinking about it too much
Under Nose: What if I took the pressure off myself a bit
Chin: I know this is a good routine for me
Collarbone: Maybe it will feel more natural soon
Under Arm: What if I just relaxed more
Top of Head: I wonder if I can enjoy this transition period

Remember to use your words where they are more appropriate and keep tapping to clear out any negative feelings you have before you try the positive reframes.

At different times our energy levels change and sometimes activities flow easily and at other times they seem like a struggle. Acknowledge things around you that could be influencing you, e.g. your energy levels, other people’s moods, the weather etc.

Keep tapping until you feel like you are in the swing of things!

New Years Resolutions vs Specific Goals

Happy New Year. I hope you have had a lovely Christmas. Wishing you a wonderful 2011.

It might just seem like a strange idea for me to suggest you don’t make any new year’s resolutions. I have good reasons:

  • People usually make them halfheartedly
  • They are usually very generic and not specific, e.g. lose weight, go to the gym more, eat more healthily
  • People set too many at the same time
  • Most people give up by the end of January

You see the trouble is, people often make new year’s resolutions not because they want to but because they feel they have to. People ask what your new year’s resolution is and they feel they have to give an answer.

Instead of just giving a generic answer like lose weight, how about you actually spend some time instead working out proper, specific goals. Use the SMART way of writing your goal – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely. Always include a date for your goal and a measurable outcome.

Think about what it is you actually want to achieve. How do you want to feel? So instead of just saying I want to lose weight, you could set a goal like this instead:

By 31st March 2011 I will weigh ………. (insert your goal weight).

Now write down how you will look, feel and any sounds that are important to your goal (e.g. hearing people congratulate you on how good you look). Put your goal somewhere where you will see it. Read it regularly.

If it seems too big, then break it down into smaller steps.

E.g. By 14th January I will weigh ……….(insert intermediate goal weight). Repeat these smaller goals, until you have achieved your bigger goal.

It is also important to congratulate yourself and celebrate your success. So have something specific in mind for when you have achieved your goal. For example, you could treat yourself to a new outfit when you have reached your ideal weight, or a new hairstyle. Whatever it is this will help with your motivation towards achieving your goal.

Write out your goals now and how you want to feel when you have achieved them. In upcoming articles I will be writing more about using EFT to help you lose weight. EFT can be used to help you achieve any goal. You can use EFT to help you if you are struggling with motivation, lack of confidence, not believing in yourself, failures in the past etc. It really is a flexible tool that can help you in many different ways to achieve your goals.

“A New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.”

Here’s to your success.

Thanksgiving – Celebrating Gratitude

Lots of my American friends were celebrating Thanksgiving yesterday. So it got me thinking about how I could use the day to offer my thanks too. Whilst I didn’t partake in a Thanksgiving celebration with friends and family, I did spend some time reflecting on all that I am grateful for.

Thanksgiving - Offering Gratitude

This is something that I do on a regular basis anyway. Each day I write in my Gratitude Journal. This is a special notebook where I write down several things each day that I am grateful for.

At times you may feel that you don’t have a lot to be grateful for. For example, you could have money worries or having trouble in a relationship. The key is at these times is to find something to be grateful for. It could be the sunshine when you woke up, or a kind word someone says to you at work. It could be the roof over your head, the love of your family or your train being on time. There is always something to be grateful for. Sometimes we just need to look a bit harder. Other times it will be easy and your gratitude will pour out of you.

Remember what we focus on we get. So by focusing on our gratitude we attract more things to be grateful for.

As well as writing in my gratitude journal, I like to tap in my gratitude. I repeat what I am grateful for, whilst tapping on the points. I start at the eyebrow and finish at the top of my head. I might repeat certain items several times or repeat a different item on each tapping point. The key for me here is to really feel that gratitude as I’m tapping it in. I find the combination of EFT and gratitude very powerful indeed.

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Anonymous

My gratitude to Katherine Krych (@HealingRays) for sharing this quote on Twitter.

The more you practice being grateful, the easier it becomes and the more things you find to be grateful for. I will leave you with this quote:

“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.” Meister Eckhart

In deepest gratitude!

Fear of Success

Fear of what I hear you say? Success? I know most people are familiar with fear of failure. What is often surprising though is that a lot of people also have a fear of success. So how do you go about dealing with that fear of success? Firstly, you need to understand what success means to you and the expectations you associate with it.

Fear of success

Think about past times in your life and the specific events when you were successful. Now if any of those upset you then use EFT to clear out the negative emotions. Try the movie technique to clear out any negativity from those events. Many people actually sabotage themselves so that they don’t achieve their success. EFT can really help you clear out this self sabotaging behaviour.

Try the following questions and write down what comes up for you…

  • Success means ……………
  • I fear success because ……………
  • I don’t deserve success because ……………
  • Last time I was successful …………… happened
  • Being successful means I’ll have to ……………
  • Being successful means I won’t be able to ……………
  • Being successful means I’ll have to give up ……………
  • Being successful means I’ll lose ……………
  • I sabotage myself by doing ……………

You can now use this information and do some tapping. So, if for example, you are worried that if you are succesful you won’t have enough time for your family then tap on that. If you think you’ll have so much pressure on you to keep up that success that it will drain you until you crash and burn, then tap on that.  If you think you don’t deserve to be successful, then tap on that. Tap, tap, tap!

Here is a sample tapping script that you can use. Score your fear before you start tapping (where 10 is maximum fear).

  • Even though I have this fear of success, I’m open to changing that today
  • Even though I’m really frightened I’ll be a success and that will put so much pressure on me that I’ll crash and burn, I acknowledge and accept my feelings
  • Even though I’m so scared I’ll be a success and then I’ll have no time for my family, I’m open to finding the right balance in my life

Eyebrow: I have this fear of success
Side of eye: It seems strange to fear success
Under eye: I’m scared I’ll have all this pressure on me
Under nose: I don’t want to get so busy that I have no family life
Chin: What if the pressure is too much for me
Collarbone: What if I feel overwhelmed
Under arm: I’m scared of success
Top of head: I’m scared I’ll have no time for my family and they’ll resent me

Eyebrow: I don’t deserve success
Side of eye: There will be too much pressure on me to keep this success going
Under eye: I’ll get overwhelmed
Under nose: I’m not good enough to succeed
Chin: I’ll feel guilty that I’m not giving enough to my family
Collarbone: I don’t want to succeed and then find it all too much to handle
Under arm: I’m scared of  sustaining this success
Top of head: What if my family hate me for doing so well

Eyebrow: I’m open to letting this fear go
Side of eye: I want to clear out all these doubts
Under eye: I’m open to changing this fear today
Under nose: What if I can enjoy my success
Chin: What if I can find the right balance between success and family life
Collarbone: Maybe my family will support me
Under arm: Maybe I do deserve to be successful
Top of head: I’m open to enjoying my success

Remember to use your words where appropriate. Re-check your score and keep tapping and adjusting your statements until you are down to zero. Tap on all the different aspects of your fear. Test your results when you think you are finished. Visualise yourself being successful and check that no negatives come up. If they do, then do some more tapping.

I will leave you with this amazing quote from Marianne Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Keep tapping and enjoy the success you deserve!
